Mr. Fickle:The Hip Hop Nerd
Make no mistake, ladies and gentlemen, Mr Fickle is the real deal. The NJ native's latest effort titled The Hip Hop Nerd is chuck full of gems that will have you noddin your head and exercising your right to rewind and replay. The album begins with a high-energy intro that is indicative of what you're going to get with this project: dope rhymes with solid production. Mr Fickle flexes his lyrical muscle with precision delivery and aggressive wordplay on tracks like "Hungry", "911" and "Grind Til Its Over"; a street anthem with a dark, gritty atmosphere. That's not all he's bringing to the table. Like all great emcees, Mr. Fickle also has wise words about life from his perspective. "We Are What We See" takes a kind of state of the union approach to life in Jersey's inner cities with descriptive imagery. Joints like "What You Really Want" and "Let It Cause Pain" take a grown man's view on Fatherhood with no sugar coating. We also hear him talking to our queens the only way a king should on songs like "Official Girl" and "My Heart." He displays his storytelling skills on "The Bottle" and ties the whole project together with a reflective and heartfelt joint called "Fly Away." On the production side, Fickle has done a great Job assembling some great beat makers that play well to his style. Tracks by YFame (who has most of the production credits) SBP, Illmind, Davine Drummah, Illskills and a host of others that truly provide the feeling you are listening to a hip hop classic. Samples like the one on "All Alone" (produced by BeatGods) had us bangin our heads so hard we nearly knocked each other unconscious. In short, The Hip Hop Nerd has no shortage of what fans of the true Hip-Hop experience are looking for. With it's lyrical richness, stellar production and great features, this project is a must-have. On "Where Did We Go Wrong" (ft. Venomous 2000), Fickle says, "Im from the era of the Old Dirty Bastard, Beat Box and Scratches." It shows, Fick. Great Work.
